"The irony of 2020 is that nobody saw it coming. A year like no other, filled with some extreme highs, extreme lows and some extreme non-directional, unexplainable off shoots. We look back in disbelief and wonder, “how did I do that many zoom quizzes?”
The whole of mankind was encouraged to stay two metres apart, yet somehow, we were brought closer together, united against a common enemy. As life stood still, outside the world was changing. Beyond our front doors cultural shifts, medical advances, and political moments unfolded. Few things had hit the world harder than 2020.
The normal had become abnormal, and then we faced ‘the new normal’. Sharing in the same confusion, frustration and grief, we slumped back on our sofas, alone, eating banana bread, and watching re-runs of Dragons Den, feeling contaminated every time big money deals were sealed with a handshake.
So, into our small worlds we slipped. Watching through our windows as the seasons pressed on. The present was bleak, and the future looked bleaker."
